Notice of Public Hearing Sussex County Planning Commission
Notice is hereby given that the Sussex County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Monday, September 9, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, Sussex Judicial Center, 15098 Courthouse Road, Sussex, Virginia to consider passage of the following:
Amendment to Conditional Use Permit #2019-01:
First Solar LLC, is amending its Conditional Use Permit (#2019-01) to develop a 118-megawatt (MW) alternating current (AC) photovoltaic (PV) solar project in Sussex County. This amendment will add 650 acres to the project area along Sussex Drive and East Oak Dale Road. The entire project will be located on approximately 2,700 acres south-west of U.S Route 460, approximately one to three miles southwest and west of Waverly in Sussex County. Construction of the project is expected to begin in late 2019, with operations starting in late 2020.
Rezoning Application #2019-01:
The applicant, Rickmond Properties, LLC is requesting to rezone approximately 12.29 acres of tax map number 61A4-A-40, from A-1, General Agricultural District to I-1, Limited Industrial for expansion of their existing contracting business located on tax map number 61A4-A-34 which is currently zoned, I-1, Limited Industrial. The rezoning will allow for a contractors’ equipment storage yard. The property in question is located approximately 2,500 feet east of the Wakefield Municipal Airport on the north side of General Mahone Highway (U.S. Route 460) in the Wakefield Election District.
All persons desiring to comment on the proposed rezoning and amendment to the conditional use permit applications should be present at the above stated time and place. A copy of the both applications are available for review in the Community Development Office during regular business hours Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
