Notice of Public Hearing Sussex County Planning Commission
Notice is hereby given that the Sussex County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 6:00PM in the General District Courtroom, Sussex Judicial Center, 15098 Courthouse Road, Sussex Judicial Center, Sussex, Virginia.
Conditional Use Permit Application #2019-01: Pursuant to Section 16-22, subsection 17.2 of the Zoning Ordinance, the applicant, First Solar LLC (on behalf of Waverly Solar LLC) seeks a conditional use permit to construct and operate a solar energy facility on tax map numbers 28A10-A-20, 28-A-22, 28A11-A-3, and 28-A-5, 42-A-33, 27-1-A, 27-1-B, 28-A-20, 28-A-21, 28-A-24, 27-A-2, 27-A-3, 27-A-4, 27-A-5, 27-A-12, 28-A-17A, 42-A-6 consisting of approximately 2,000 +/- acres. The parcels in question are zoned A-1, General Agricultural District, which allows the proposed use with a conditional use permit. The proposed site of the project is generally situated between the Town of Waverly, VA to the northeast and the unincorporated community of Newville, VA to the southwest. It is bounded to the east by Coppahaunk Road (SR 654) and the north by the town of Waverly. Beef Steak Road (SR 626) traverses the western part of the project site and West Oak Dale Road (SR 655) traverses the southern part of the site. Sussex County Drive (SR 40) extends north to south through the eastern part of the site.

A copy of the proposed Conditional Use Permit Application along with supporting documentation are available for review in the Community Development Office during regular business hours Monday thru Friday from 8:00AM to 4:30PM
