Notice is hereby given that the Sussex County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, Sussex Judicial Center, 15098 Courthouse Road, Sussex, Virginia 23884.  The purpose of this ordinance is to consider to establishing a County Department of Fire and Rescue Department Ordinance to reflect current practices related to the volunteer fire departments and provides flexibility in addressing fire and EMS operational needs in the future.   

Citizens may submit oral or written statements on the proposed Ordinance to the County Administrator’s Office by hand delivery or mail to Shilton R. Butts, PO Box 1397, Sussex, VA 23884 or email at sricks@sussexcountyva.gov no later than 3:00 p.m. on June 14, 2023.  A copy of the proposed Ordinance will be available for review in the County Administration office located at 20135 Princeton Road, Sussex, Virginia 23884 during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
