Virginia Cooperative Extension's urban programs focus in the major areas of agriculture, 4-H youth development, and family and consumer sciences through the land grant colleges of Virginia State University and Virginia Tech. Extension Agents and Specialists deliver educational programs that are designed to address issues and concerns in the areas of; landscape management, pesticide safety; individual and community gardens; storm runoff of fertilizers and chemicals; insect, disease, and rodent control; wildlife nuisance management; in-school 4-H educational programs that support the standards of learning; after school 4-H programs for youth; and food safety, nutrition, parenting, aging, and family financial management.
