COVID-19 UPDATE: Sussex County Housing Office Closure Notice

The Sussex County Housing Office is committed to assisting low to moderate income (LMI) residents to obtain and maintain safe, decent, sanitary and affordable housing. Resources include funding from federal, state, and local agencies. Since 1980’s, Sussex County has served as a local administrator for the Virginia Housing Development Authority’s Housing Choice Voucher Program.

Sussex County Housing Office has various housing programs available such as; Housing Choice Voucher Program, Homeownership Program, and the Virginia Individual Development Accounts (VIDA).

Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8)
The Housing Choice Voucher Program provides assistance for low-income families in the private rental market through the Housing Assistance Payments Program.

Virginia Individual Development Account (VIDA)
The Virginia Individual Development Accounts (VIDA) program is for individuals saving for a down payment on a home, business equipment and inventory or post-secondary education tuition payments. Eligible participants receive training, support and 2 in match funds for every $1 the participant saves, up to $4,000 in match. Learn More >
