Inspection Requests

SUSSEX COUNTY BUILDING OFFICIAL’S OFFICE

REQUIRED INSPECTIONS

FOOTING – Grade stakes and Rebars must be in place before calling for inspection. Re-inspection will be required if it rains before concrete is poured.

PROJECTION – Performed when a minimum of two (2) courses of masonry is complete and the top of the footing is clean of all debris and anchor straps installed if applicable.

FOUNDATION, BOXING & FLOOR JOIST– Before framing is started. Crawl space should be free of vegetation and organic material and sand be placed if area is damp or wet. The Floor Joist must be inspected before sub floor is placed.

DO NOT COVER FOUNDATION OR PIERS UNTIL FOUNDATION IS INSPECTED FRAMING, ELECTRICAL, PLUMBING AND MECHANICAL – Before Outside walls are covered. Hurricane Clips are required.

CHIMNEY AND FIREPLACE INSPECTIONS – To insure that two-inch air space is maintained between brick and all combustible material on inside of building and one inch air space on outside.

INSULATION

FINAL INSPECTION BEFORE OCCUPANCY – Must have approved Water Sample and Sewage Operations Permit from the Health Department before Final Inspection can be scheduled.

A Re-Inspection Fee of $100.00 will be assessed if the job is not Ready for the requested Inspection.
